250,000 Kiwis are living with diabetes
It’s no secret that an estimated 250,000 New Zealanders have diabetes. Furthermore, this number of people is projected to rise sharply if we don’t address increasing obesity and poor lifestyle choices in our community. Moreover, Māori, Pasifika and Asian populations are statistically more susceptible to diabetes.
The vast majority of people have Type 2 Diabetes. Generally, it usually occurs in older people, has lifestyle links, and is often secondary to obesity. However, Type 1 Diabetes is also on the rise. 5 to 10 % of people living with diabetes have this disease.
Getting help and support from our Botany diabetic care centre is an essential first step. But, again, getting early treatment for your diabetes is vital.
Moreover, our expert diabetes doctors, nurses and health coaches at Botany Junction will support you to manage your condition. Which means that you can enjoy better long term quality of life.
