Liquid Nitrogen

Liquid Nitrogen removes benign skin lesions for wart removal and verruca treatment. It is a safe and effective method to freeze off your skin tags, warts and verrucas. It is also known as cryotherapy.

Liquid Nitrogen is a safe, effective treatment for the removal of skin tags, warts, and verrucas.

Non-cancerous surface skin lesions can be treated by freezing them with liquid nitrogen. Your doctor will diagnose conditions that are suitable for this form of treatment. Our skin experts can successfully treat warts, verrucas, skin tags or other non-cancerous skin growths. The lesion is frozen, which causes it to blister. When the blister dries, expect a scab to form as the area heals.

As you’ll know, Liquid Nitrogen is extremely cold! This freezing effect destroys the skin tissue, which results in the removal of the wart, verruca or lesion.

What can you expect from Liquid Nitrogen Therapy?

  • The liquid nitrogen usually comes in a spray gun. The area being treated is sprayed directly, or a cotton bud applied for 5 to 10 seconds.
  • Stinging can occur during and for a short time after treatment.
  • The lesion turns white then red and may blister. The blister may contain clear fluid but can be red if there has been some bleeding , this is not harmful.
  • As the blister dries, a scab will form which comes off in 5 to 10 days on the face, around 2 to 3 weeks on hands and arms but legs may take longer to heal.
  • To successfully treat warts or verruca more than one treatment is often required.

Skin lesions which can be treated with Liquid Nitrogen

  • Viral warts
  • Actinic keratosis(Solar keratosis)
  • Seborrhoeic keratosis(Senile warts)
  • Molluscum contagiosum virus in adults (MCV)
  • Some skin tags

Our experienced doctors can give you an accurate diagnosis of any skin lesions and advise you on the best method of treatment. Liquid Nitrogen for warts is especially effective.

Cryotherapy is not suitable for the treatment of moles. Talk to us about a Mole Check, if you have moles which are causing you concern. Our team will advise on further investigations and treatment.
